SILENCE Project - "Stories of women who broke the silence"

The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified violence against young women as a significant global health issue, demanding our attention. A considerable number of gender violence victims choose to endure their suffering in silence. Fear, shame, and the overwhelming burden of silence are the primary factors contributing to their reticence. It is imperative that we address these concerns and strive to build a society where victims feel empowered to speak out and seek justice.

The SILENCE project aims to facilitate the "reparation, recovery, and reintegration" of young girls from Italy and Spain who have experienced violence, abuse, and/or male chauvinist mistreatment, leading to the suspension of their lives. The project involves co-creating a "Repair, Recovery, and Resilience Plan" through an innovative approach, employing a tandem of "Traumatic Autobiographical Narrative Therapy" and "Autobiographical Dance-Theater."

The courageous participants of Project SILENCE dedicated themselves to exploring their inner worlds, confronting challenges, and transforming pain into creative power. The performances in Valencia marked the culmination of this extraordinary effort, a moment when stories and experiences were shared with the world through the universal language of art and movement.

However, this is not the end of our story. Our commitment to healing and creating a safe space for silenced voices endures.  The light of resilience and strength continues to shine, and together, we will continue to write the chapters of this story of transformation.
